I have a massdrop vast monitor that has freesync. I have 5700XT. Tried ranges in CRU. 40-100,49-100,40-125,49-125. Monitor should be 49-100, Radeon reads that correctly. However when gaming the screen will flicker checkerboards. Is there any known fix?

Optimal range for FreeSync starts with 48.
Even if minimum FreeSync range is 48, it does not prevent flickering: https://amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
