Linux uProf Power profile

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. After installing uProf 2.0 I tried to power profile my Ryzen 7 1700X Pro.

> sudo ./AMDuProfCLI timechart --event Energy --interval 100 --duration 10

Unfortunatly it doesn't work as expected. After a fresh reboot it may produce some results, but as soon as it stops producing output, the CLI will never work anymore.

So I tried the example CollectAllCounter under the Example directory.

Same issue here, this may work, but after a few seconds it already stops working and it will never output any data anymore.

This leads me to believe that the uProf driver is faulty, and internally hangs or crashes.

Anybody similar experience?

Also I noticed that the inline --help in AMDuProfCLI is not complete and outdated.

Re: Linux uProf Power profile

Hi,

Can you please elaborate more on what is the error you are getting while running the power profiler?

I would also suggest to attach the trace file generated PwrBackendTrace.txt, somewhere in your tmp folder.

Thanks

Re: Linux uProf Power profile

Hi c.minnoy,

AMDuProf v2.0 is pretty old release.

"Help" and other documentation also changed over a period of time.

Can you please try with more recent one i.e. v3.1 available at following location:

https://developer.amd.com/amd-uprof/

Also, as Rajeeb suggested in the above post, if problem persist, please attach "PwrBackendTrace.txt" log present in "/tmp" directory.

Thanks,

Kalyan P
