Drivers & Software

I have a problem installing the drivers for my Radeon 580

Ok.  I've done all the things that they advise.  Checked the registry.  Reinstalled the libraries.  But I get the message that Radeon Software 19.6.3 has been partially installed with an error 1603.

I even changed my antivirus from Bitdefender to AVG.

So it appears that the problem is not:

Driver installation errors can be caused by one or a combination of the following problems:

  • Corrupted registry keys and/or system files
  • Corrupted Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files
  • Missing critical and/or important Windows updates
  • Graphics driver and software conflicts
  • False positives reported and blocked by antivirus software

I was curious what is the next step?  I'm using a Dell.  I did manage to uninstall and then reinstall the driver once, but was advised to do it again as World of Warcraft was reporting it was not the current driver.  That was a mistake as now the driver won't completely install.

Thank you.

Yes I have tried that. Multiple times. (Well, only twelve-thirteen attempts).

Make sure you are not running Afterburner or something similar while installing.

Did you follow the steps from this page?

Error 1603 – A General Error Has Occurred During the Installation of the AMD Software Package | AMD

If it was me, I would

   1. Uninstall all AMD GPU drivers from safe mode using the latest DDU

   2. Uninstall all MSVC redistribs

   3. Run the commands from the linked FAQ

   4. Reinstall MSVC redistribs. There is a link in the FAQ.

   5. Try to install 19.6.3

Also, you might want to look at the Installer log file.

Fyi, I use Bitdefender free, and 19.6.3 installed fine for me. So I doubt it is antivirus.

No overclocking software of any kind. But a good point.
