Graphical problems with Wolfenstein: Old Blood

Hi guys!

I bought Wolfenstein: Old Blood from Steam and I'm having some serious, apparently AMD (GPU) based problems with it, probably because of the iD tech 5. The game runs okay but I get these weird, cone-like artifacts in character models. Some parts of character models are even missing. Also some guns are blocking the view with weird artifacts. It all together makes the game unplayable.

I tried all the different options from the game, forced the V-sync on/off, made a cache file some people were telling me to try, updated my gpu drivers, tried running on windowed mode etc. but nothing helps. Could it be from overheating or something? Also, the game crashes if I try to turn Virtual texture compression off. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Here's few pictures of the glitches:

64bit Windows 8.1

Who is the manufacturer of your laptop? What is the exact model number? What graphics driver version are you using? Does this happen in other games? Do you have switchable graphics? Did you update the graphics drivers?

Also, 7700M series tells us nothing. What is your graphics chip....7770M or 7750M or 7730M ? It makes a difference.

Re: Graphical problems with Wolfenstein: Old Blood

Kingsfish, sorry about being unclear with stuff. Here's more specific info:

SAMSUNG Laptop Series 3

NP350V5C-T02US Intel Core i5 3210M (2.50GHz)

6GB Memory 500GB HDD

AMD Radeon HD 7730M 15.6"

Windows 8.1

I updated the graphical drivers just yesterday so the Catalyst Software suite driver version 14.501.1003 it is..downloaded the latest beta drivers too.

I do have switchable graphics. Never had this in any other game. Not even Wolfenstein: New Order.

Re: Graphical problems with Wolfenstein: Old Blood

Your laptop is equipped with switchable graphics. In order to update the AMD driver, the Intel graphics must be the current version. Go to this Intel link, and manually find the latest graphics driver for your laptop. Download and save it to your desktop.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

Download these AMD drivers to your desktop.

For Windows 8.1 or Windows 7

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx

Now use the clean install method to remove all Intel graphics and AMD graphics from your computer, When using DDU also checkmark Intel graphics.

https://community.amd.com/message/2645771#2645771

Then install the Intel drivers first and lastly the AMD drivers.

If you don't know which Intel graphics you have...go into the computer device manager and look under graphics/display.

I finished the game using normal difficulty and it was fun. What is really fun, though, is I am playing it now on Uber with the "unlimited ammo" setting. Sound easy? Hah

One of the links (clean install) was bad...I corrected it. Let us know how it went?

Re: Graphical problems with Wolfenstein: Old Blood

Oh man, I think I shouldn't have tried the clean install at all. I uninstalled the AMD drivers, the system wanted to reboot so I thought I'll do it before installing the new INTEL driver. Now I got a dark screen with only the cursor on start up & can't do anything. I was able to use the safe mode to enter Windows but now the drivers won't install.

Intel says my computer doesn't meet the system requirements of the driver and the AMD beta driver says that it "failed to load detection driver".

Please help me out of this mess. F**k Wolfenstein.

Re: Graphical problems with Wolfenstein: Old Blood

"Intel says my computer doesn't meet the system requirements" is because you probably used the Intel Update utility. You must manually download the drivers..like the image I posted. Use your system restore. Then forget all I said. Install the new Intel drivers you downloaded over the top of the old drivers. If this works, reboot. Then install the AMD drivers that you have downloaded in advance to your desktop. Don't delete anything.
