Drivers break Powercolor RX5700

I have a Powercolor RX5700 in a new PC build. I install windows and it works fine. The moment I update the AMD drivers and it cycles to restart, I get nothing but a blank screen after the bios splash screen.

This has happened several times and the only way I can get the PC working again is to reformat and load windows again from a boot media, so it's very annoying. If I do not update AMD drivers the display works fine indefinitely. What can I do?

That's hard to answer without knowing your specs on your build. The reason it loads with the windows basic drivers is because the power consumption is vastly lower. Please post your complete specs. FYI I have a Powercolor 5700XT and am typing this from that very system with the latest drivers.

It has a 550 gold PSU so I don't think that's the issue. Standard gaming system specs, I don't have the full list handy
