Hello,
Unable to successfully install AMD drivers meaning I can only use integrated graphics.
Symptom(s) Blue screen of death when installing display adapters when installing Non-WHQL-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.8.2-Win10-64Bit-Aug24 + Device manager not recognising
System:
I5 2500k (removed OC and set bios to default settings once driver errors started)
gigabyte z68xp-ud3 (PCI 2.0)
8Gb Ram
Windows 10 64 bit
It appears to be a problem initially linked to this file as this initially displayed prior to BSOD with exception error relating to this file.
Steps taken so far:
Completely removed AMD drivers using DDU
Tried to install in safe mode
Tried to install with trusted certificates off
Rolled back Windows restore to month previously
Downloaded and installed with Windows Defender switched off
Confusingly when I boot up the display is very pixelated like a graphics card error but then boots happily into windows via the integrated graphics.
I have just now managed to install the display driver only using custom install without BSOD which has for the first time displayed vega in device manager.
Any help would be much appreciated
Update:
Have tried a clean install of windows and I have also tried 17.8.1 which fell down at identifying the device.
*I have now attached a log file for the most recent attempt that ended in BSOD.

Solved! Go to Solution.
Fix found in following thread https://community.amd.com/thread/219437 - updated mobo bios to latest UEFI version which allowed successful install of display drivers.
Motherboard: gigabyte z68xp-ud3
Old bios: F7
New Bios: Latest UEFI version 1 (only one released for this mobo).
Sorry no solution here but
the same issue.

Sapphire RX Vega 64 Watercooled Version, Bluescreen during driver installation
appears common fault - plenty of us with paperweight cards now, thanks AMD

Problem is just the same. I need help with my brand new card.
Actually tried with different drivers. But they cannot detect card.. or same problem with the BSOD within half of the installation.
glad to see that you have found the correct answer to your question. In order to help others with a similar problem to find this answer quickly, we have locked the discussion to keep it focused on the issue you reported.
Just came in to say I have the same exact issue. EVGA x58 Mobo with Windows 10. I get a BSOD error with atikmdag.sys when trying to install the drivers. If there is no fix this card will be going back. Looks like AMD's "awesome" drivers strike again.
This isn't a fix for most, you just got lucky and had a board with an update
Wanted to share that multiple people have been having problems with non UEFI motherboards! I have posted multiple times in multiple forums and AMD has not respond to any of them as of yet. Is there a way to get a representative to actually contact me or something to get this resolved? I'm amazed that they have let this go on for as long as it has! My current build has been rock solid with my GTX 680, but I can't get the Vega to install with any of the new or even old drivers available for Windows 10.
Yes it's possible. You have to contact AMD. Email Form
