Does XMP profile make FCLK frequency half of ram speed, or i have to adjust it manually? (zen3)

hello guys,

will enabling XMP just be enough for all, or even if it changes ram to 3200mhz i still have to ajdust fclk from auto to 1600 manully?

XMP is a feature that automatically correctly overclocks RAM to run at a higher speed.

It will configure all the parameters to the correct frequencies, voltages, etc. That is why XMP has more than one "Profile" because each profiles is unique to the speed it is to configure.

This quote from a tech site concerning XMP:

Short for Extreme Memory Profiles, XMP defines a set of configurations embedded into the RAM SPD in addition to the standardized profiles approved by the JEDEC. These profiles define the RAM's voltage, frequency, and CAS latency so that it can run at faster clock speeds compared to the standardized frequencies.Sep 18, 2022

past 3200 speeds .. not guarantied to be set correctly when FCLK is set to auto

Always best practice to just set it manually to match RAM speed

DDR = Double Data Rate

1600 speed RAM doubled .. is 3200 .. FCLK matches the Single Data Rate (or actual speed of the RAM before being "doubled")
