I ran some BOINC GPU application under my new OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and I observed that the GPU temperature for RX VEGA 56 was lower than under my old OpenSUSE with AMDGPU-PRO 17.40. Under Tumbleweed with Linux 4.15 new AMDGPU drivers reports temperature under 70 C for my VEGA under load and under old system with AMDGPU-PRO 17.40 drivers reports temperature over 80 C under load on this same BOINC GPU application. The fanspeeds was set under this same level on both systems. Temperature in the room was nearly this same under runnings.
My question: which temperature is real? Why different drivers reports different temperatures for this same device under load on this same GPU application?
