clinfo shows the number of the compute unit for W5700 as 18 not 36

According to the specs W5700 has 36 compute units. But my clinfo shows 18 not 36. What is the reason for this? My current setting is like below

OS : Arch Linux (Kernel version 5.14.12)

AMD driver : Radeon™ Pro Software for Enterprise on Ubuntu 20.04.2 (21.Q3)

Below is the clinfo output.

I was hoping there would be an answer to this question because in at Vegas Pro GPU log file, my RX 6700XT says it only has 20 Compute Units where the card is listed as 40 here on the AMD website...

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, Sapphire RX 6700XT, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, Gigabyte X570 Elite.

As it turns out, getting half of the compute units is the way the card is designed to be. If you look at the AMD NAVI architecture document (https://developer.amd.com/wp-content/resources/RDNA_Shader_ISA.pdf, page 11), it says the following.

"Compute Units (CUs) : One half of a WGP. Contains 2 SIMD32’s which share one path to memory"

So, starting with RDNA NAVI archtecture 1 WGP = 2 Compute Units. I think WGP shows up on the 'clinfo' as the compute units, not the actual compute units in the conventional sense.

This is also mentioned in the RDNA wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDNA_(microarchitecture), subsection 'Differences between GCN and RNDA').

Thanks very much for the clarification. Two Compute Units equal one WorkGroupProcessor. So I am guessing that Vegas Pro is reading WGP (20) and not reading CU's.

It certainly had me wondering what was going on....

Again, thanks for the clarification!
