So when I start a game & open up AMD Adrenalin 20.4.2 & use the metrics option to display the framerate in game, it works, but then the framerate counter disappears after a few minutes of playing & when I try opening up AMD Adrenalin, with the alt+r button, it will no longer open up.

This happens to every games I play. This happened to my older RX 580 card & my newer 5700XT card.

My system:

Windows 10

RX 5700XT

Ryzen 7 3800X

16GB Ram

do not use the 20.4.2 it have some problem 

roll back the driver  that should fix it 

1. Open Device Manager. ...
2. In Device Manager, locate the device that you want to roll back the driver for. ...
3. After finding the hardware you're rolling back the driver for, tap-and-hold or right-click on the device's name or icon and choose Properties. ...
4. Select the Driver tab.
5. Select the Roll Back Driver button.
