Hello,

so here is my problem: The my system freezes as soon as i want to install a Radeon Adrenalin 2019 or 2020 Edition driver. No error codes and about 30 sec. later the PC is rebooting. Windows is also freezing when trying to install a display driver with the device manager.

Motherboard BIOS and all the other AMD drivers (Chipset) are installed with the latest versions. I'm using a new Windows 10 Version 1903 build 18362.30. PCI-E for the GPU slot is set to GEN 3.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (non OC)

MB: MSI X570 Edge Wifi (BIOS Version 1.60)

RAM: 32 GB @3000mHz

Storage: 1TB M.2 SSD (SATA)

PSU: 650W from be quiet!

GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700XT

All hardware componets are working fine. I already checkt that.

Might want to get the OS up to date first ?

I had a similar issue once installing ISO offline (no updates), after allowing windows to update was fixed.

An alternate way may be to grab a new ISO (they are updated every so often).

I installed Windows on- and offline but the driver problem is still there. Also installing offline and then updating the OS does not help. But thanks for the tipp.

Not Using Win10 insider preview are you, that has caused driver update issues before ?

19.12.2 and 3 has issues, try with 19.12.1.

Also possibly win10 trying to install the 'update catalogue' vers..

Try a custom clean install of 19.12.1 (download/save full driver pkg direct from amd), then disconnect from internet to install.

As far as i know i'm not using insider preview. I tried 3 or 4 driver packages of the 2019 Adrenalin Edition and all packages available of the 2020 Edition (offline and online). The system freezes as soon as the installer is done unpacking the installation files and start checking the system compatibility.

I'm still in contact with the AMD customer support. So far we have neither a solution nor the problem figured out. All we know is that if precision boost overdrive is activated, the system crashes when runnig a prime95 stress test.
