Can't enable FreeSync?

  • AMD Graphics Card
    • AMD R90 280X
  • Desktop or Laptop System
    • Desktop, custom built
  • Operating System
    • Windows 10 64bit
  • Driver version installed
    • Radeon Software Crimson Edition 18.2.1
  • Display Devices
    • HP 27b curved monitor 1920x1080 @ 75Hz using DisplayPort 1.2

I just got a DisplayPort cable so I could run FreeSync on my monitor (yes it is a supported monitor, I did check), I have enabled FreeSync in the OSD, set my monitor to 75Hz, etc.

No matter what I have done, the "AMD FreeSync" button under the Display tab in Radeon settings still says that it is not supported.

This is my first time attempting to enable freesync. I have not installed new drivers because AMD drivers cause Overwatch to say "Rendering device not found," so I am not hoping to try new drivers.

I am at a loss about what to do, please advise.

First chk the Cable to make sure it's properly connected, then go to Monitor property/setting[OSD] to make FreeSync is enable and DP 2.0 also enable then restart your PC. If FreeSync is still grayed out switch to different Cable or different Port or try different Driver.

Freesync works on HDMI as well - tried that cable?

..and make sure there is no conflicting setting enabled (OSD bios of the monitor)
