Hello. Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm new in AMD world.
About Adrenalin recommended and optional versions; can I just clean install the optional version, or do I always need the recommended version first?

You can download / install which ever one you want...but only one. If you install the optional ' update...Windows Update will replace it with the Microsoft Basic Driver, which is basically the drivers only. It is best to only install WHQL versions.
