I am the proud owner of a AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB 512Bits . I was running windows 10 Pro x64 bit with Amd crimson driver 15.11.1 beta when my system crashed playing the Dota 2 suddenly
a black screen appears . I have tried many other previous and newer versions of various drivers but no luck . I did system restores of my previous build in windows 10 but always get the black screen with a system freeze.
Basically, the system runs fine with the basic Microsoft driver, but the very second I install any AMD driver (I have tried the current versions and older ones, over a year old), my screen goes black. No matter if I clean the drivers in safe mode with DDU or not, or if I used the device manager to directly update the driver, or let Windows update do its thing.
Right now my system specifications are
My PC specification is AMD FX-6120 Six Cores 10 gb RAM Antec 650 watt.
I have found users with the same issue, dating over a year back, this seems to be widespread and no one knows a solution. When will there be a fix to get my GPU working again? What is the cause. Excact ETA on the fix pls, this should be the number one priority for the Catalyst team right now!
I have been using this card since 1 years everything everygame and every driver on every window was working fine before . I have also tried switching to windows 7, windows 8 , windows 8.1 but regardless of the amd display driver version the same isssue occours as soon as the display driver is install but restart did not show me blackscreen as other users are facing this problem.
At blackscreen fan speed up and slow down within 5 Sec.
Can you run HWMonitor from time to time? HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID
What it does is that it keeps tracks of the temperature of everything in your PC, and considering the speed-up of the fan it *might* be (but not necessarily is the cause) that your PC overheats for some reason. Just the program running from time to time while you're utilizing the PC and save the monitoring data (sadly there's no auto-save function in it).
I recommend keeping track of it for at least a few days to maybe a full week, that should provide sufficient data to conclude whether or not the heat is the issue here.
Having a similar issue after my last driver update. Went to turn on my computer this morning and the windows logo was spinning as usual and then instead of taking me to the log in screen I just got a black screen. I ended up having to pull the card out, boot up without it and uninstall all the AMD drivers and software, then put the card back in and it seems to be working fine. I was also having an issue last night with some Wattman program. I think it was interfering with MSI Afterburner. Was playing Rime when the graphics started tearing all of a sudden after a few hours and then the message about Wattman being reset to default or something popped up a few times until I closed out Afterburner. Thought I was good until I couldn't boot up this morning.
PC specs are AMD MSI R9 390x, i7 6700k, 16gb RAM on windows 10.
You must take the necessary steps to prevent/delay Microsoft from installing/changing graphics drivers following one of the methods described here > Windows 10 Forums
Delete the contents of the C:/AMD folder.
Reinstall the driver of your choice...clean install using DDU. > Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V220.127.116.11 Released. | Wagnardsoft
bro i have done all these methods even fresh windows installation.when trying to install amd display driver system stuck at blackscreen.
this problem already happened to me before 4months but at that time card auto detect driver and began to work again .at this this it`s not working
Your problem is Afterburner. Third party controllers conflict with Wattman/AMD controls. Disable / delete it after returning all settings it's made to default. Set the Wattman controls to default.
is there anyone who can resolve my problem .Please i am in loss with AMD product.I belong to a poor family and do not afford a new card .PLEASE HELP ME !
