I tried to up date to the latest Radeon Software Adrenalin on my laptop to version 18.6.1 but once i had done that my screen would stay blank, i hooked my laptop up to my TV via hdmi cable and it appears on it.

I also tried driver version 18.5.1 and 18.5.2, still nothing happens on my laptop screen so hooked back up to my TV and it appears on it, now av rolled back to 18.2.1.

Any help will be much appreciated

I have the exact same problem and we have almost same hardware. I tried several version of drivers，the latest version which can work normally is 18.3.4.

Known issue. Lots of people have this. No action or word from AMD. Sucks.

It can happen because of Freesync, turn it off. Freesync works ok on 17.11.3 drivers, while on latest screen goes black, report this to AMD and maybe they will fix it: AMD Issue Reporting Form
