I've been running an egpu w/ an rx580 in it for a few years. It's worked fine for several devices I've connected to it. I've had to reinstall my windows so presumably got new drivers and now, for some reason recently, every time I disconnect the egpu via the tray, it disconnects, but then immediately reconnects.
So basiaclly now there's absolutely no way to disconnect safely from the egpu.
