AMD Radeon Software Driver Update Error 1603

Hello,

so the following happened:

I tried to update the drivers for my AMD Graphics Card.

First I visited the page https://www.amd.com/en/support

I clicked on "Download Now" and tried to install the programm as described.

I chose to delete all of my old drivers during the installation process.

But once I restarted my computer it prompted me an error: error 170

And it says it can't detect a working internet connection. When I boot Windows 7 it takes a while to set up the connection (blue loading wheel in the lower right corner) so that may be the problem?

I also tried to just execute the setup.exe in the C:/AMD/RadeonInstaller folder after the failed install without choosing to reset the drivers to factory setting and without rebooting but then it immediately gives me the error: "AMD Installer cannot continue because it is unable to access the required web sources" (Error 195).

After hours of work trying to fix this I instead downloaded the driver from https://devicehunt.com/view/type/pci/vendor/1002/device/6819 and https://devicehunt.com/driver/type/pci/vendor/1002/device/6819/download/d18e5b74-4c47-4d20-a6bd-06d6...

in order to have an installation of the drivers without an internet connection.

Unfortunately right at the end of the install it gives me error 1603 https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb1603 .

When I run the setup.exe again without choosing to reset to factory settings before the install it also gives me the error 1603 but at a different point during the installation.

I really need to get those drivers working or I can't run most of my programs on my PC because they all need OpenGL.

Please tell me if there is:

1.A way to fix the connection problems with the auto-detect installer

2.A way to fix this annoying error 1603

3.A way to safely install old drivers so I can at least run basic programs that need OpenGL

Hi there. well i'm no expert but what i would do in second place is try to resolve one or all of these:

Error 1603 can be caused by one or a combination of the following problems: ​

  • Graphics driver and software conflicts
  • False positives reported and blocked by antivirus software
  • Missing critical and/or important Windows updates
  • Corrupted Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files
  • Corrupted registry keys and/or system files

May be try uninstall the drivers from program files on control panel, check the antivirus, may be turn it off during installation, update windows, reinstall microsoft visual C++ Redistributable, (and as i dont know how to fix registry keys and or system files, last option is re-install windows, but if u know how ti fix them, try that)

But in first place, i would try to resolve the internet thing and try to "stop" the installation until internet is successfully connected.

If u are having that internet issue, in which u get the error because internet isn't connected fast enough, MAY BE if u create another windows user, when you reboot the PC instead of starting windows it will get you to the user selection menu, in which, i think, it will try to connect to internet but will not complete the AMD installation until you enter your user (this is just a guess). I'm bad redacting english so i hope u can understand what i mean with this.
