There is no reason why it shouldn't, as far as I know there is no aspect ratio lock to any display output protocol used in (relatively) modern GPUs. However you might run into bandwith issues limiting your refresh rate depending on which type of connector you want to use.
HDMI/DP would for sure support such a resolution with a recent enough version, VGA will not, and I am unsure about DVI though probably not.
HDMI 1.4 and up supports up to 2560x1440p60hz, so if your monitor is 2560x1080 60hz you should be fine.
