Thanks for letting me know.
So it looks like this troubleshooting step works for some users but not all. We'll still try to reproduce the bug as it's still not working correctly for some users. Feel free to post any new information as it comes to light.
I just tried this, also in safe mode, and it worked for me as well. No problems after a reboot either. First I only did a clean uninstall with the AMD clean uninstall utility but this didn't help. Only the DDU seems to do the trick.
No need to attach anything if things are working, that's good. Please keep us updated if things break again.
Still does't work for me. I uninstall drives using DDU and install 17.4.3 package (I confirm the hdmi driver is selected) -> no audio devices.
When i downgrade display driver to 17.2.1 (custom install, only display driver selected), everything works well.
Maybe I have to accept that this is the last compatible driver for this card.
Asus R9 290X -> [HDMI video/audio] -> Yamaha RX-A830 -> [HDMI video only] -> LG 42LD650
Asus P8Z77-V LX2, i5-3570K, 8GB ram
Windows 7 x64.
Hi everyone. Just registered here because i have the same problem.
"AMD High Definition Audio Device" grayed out. (device not connected)
Used DDU -> restart -> cleaned reg with ccleaner -> restart -> downloaded 17.4.4 from the AMD site and used express installation -> used the offered restart -> still same problem.
Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 1703 (Build 15063.250)
Asus R9 Nano White 4G
Intel i5-2400 16GB Ram
Onboard Soundcard disabled in BIOS of MB, only use Audio over HDMI.
Bluetooth Sound Devices are also in list of devicemanager...
Problem started before I had installed the creators update. Used DDU, installed 17.4.3 and rebooted and now the HDMI shows up and I have audio once again!
