i tried this but it didn't work, upon restarting it prompted me to do it again but it wanted to update the lowercase Pci instead of PCI. predictably, after restarting again nothing has changed. its defaulting me to the conexant smartaudio driver, which is broken and has no sound at all. please help if you can, im really desperate at this point, ive tried everything including registry edits and nothing has helped.
