You should generally consult the website of the manufacturer, see if the CPU is in the supported list. If you can't find such a document, then check the socket the motherboard provides and see if it matches the CPU, and make sure the provided power (95Watts or 125Watts...) the motherboard supports is sufficient for your processor.
If the stars are aligned, then in theory it should work. If it doesn't, then you're up for a BIOS upgrade. For all this information, you're best off consulting the motherboard manufacturer or their forums.
