perfstudio vertex shader debugger all zeroes

     I'm trying to test out the vertex shader debugger on the DirectX SDK samples, MultithreadedRendering11 being one of them, but the vertex shader debugger shows zeroes in every register at every line of assembly for each draw call I've tried. I'm using PerfStudio 2.12 with a Radeon HD 7950 on Windows 8 64-bit. Are there known cases for when the vertex shader debugger is and isn't supposed to work?
