Lack of HD-audio in linux

Hi, as an avid linux user.

I was wondering if there ever will be HDMI passthrough support for the HD-audio formats in linux.

I am currently using a Gigabyte ITX FM2 motherboard with a 5800K and openelec with XMBC.  And there is no support for the DTS-MA and Dolby-HD formats.

I  ended up buying a nvidia gfx card to get hd-audio passthrough which is very annoying when the apu is more than capable, and it works in windows.

Is this due the fact the the audio parts have been developed by realtec? and they will not support linux?

I hope for a favorable reply.

Kind regards.

Brut.

this issue ever gonna be addressed by AMD?

Or it's better to give up dreaming and start looking for HTPC with intel or nvidia, who already support hd audio?

thanks.

AMD doesn't support Linux except for a bare minimum. Their driver releases are usually half year to years behind the current kernel version. I purchased an A10-5800K for a custom HTPC and was dismayed to see the sorry state of AMD Linux drivers in which no HD audio passthrough is supported. I'll just not purchase AMD products from now on.
