Initialization of AMD CPU

Hi,

I am learning now about the initialization of AMD CPU which will be applied to design a chipset. Could any one tell me some document about that. I think when we first boot the CPU, there is nothing in memory. And the memory is connected directly to the CPU not via chipset. Hence, I do not know how the CPU can initialize.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

TLN

Download coreboot source and look inside.

Also, I think this is axplained within AMD's BIOS and Kernel Guide.

Basically, it boils down that CPU can use caches as RAM until it sets memory controllers and initialise RAM. It's called CAR ( Cache as RAM) mode AFAIK
