Hello,
I am using Visual Studio 11 on Windows 7 64 bit
I am developing a x64 application with DirectX 11
When I have catalyst 12.3
Inside there is an option
Hydra Vision and Option "Enable Desktop", which is enabled
On exit of my application i get a
First-chance exception at 0x0000000076F5B3CB (user32.dll) in irradiance.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xFFFFFFFFFFC52160.
If i disable this option the crash goes away.

Hello kingofthebongo,
Fantastic username by the way!
Thank you for reporting this issue. The best way to submit Catalyst feedback & bugs is using this link: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D27E29B0E3 By filling out the above form, your feedback/bug reports go directly to the engineering team.
I would complete the form for you based on your forum post, but the form asks some very specific questions about your system. So if you have time, would you please complete the form above to report this issue directly to the Catalyst team?
Thank you!
Kristen
Hello,
I have submitted the callstack to them.
I would suggest to for AMD to make here some kind of a bug report submission system for amd software products.
I see a lot of crashes or software problems and the people do not know where to address the problems and they report it in the forum.
I would suggest also if possible to try to improve site performance it is a little bit slow.
Publishing papers and documentation on the site is great by the way.
If you can submit more documentation about the hardware will be great also, especially the video card documentation, cpu documentation is great and very useful
Thank you for your help
Great ideas! Thanks so much for your feedback.
Hello,
I have submitted this bug to the catalyst team through the link you have provided.
In Catalyst 12.4 this bug is not fixed.
Steps to reproduce.
Create a Win32 Project with Visual Studio 2010/11.
Enable all exceptions.
Start the project and close the window.
See the crash.
Very annoying, because when you restart catalyst enables the desktop manager
Hi,
This is Sirish working for the QA team in AMD SW team. We tried reproducing the issue you are encountering but no success so far. We thought we need your help in understanding more on the HW to closer the gap in reproducing the issue. Can you share your configuration details like: GPU, Chipset etc..
Hello
My configuration is Athlon x4 620
AMD Radeon 5750 video card with window7 64 bit.
I have forgotten to menttion to get the exception you must enable all exceptions in visual studio and press F5 to start the project from there.
This is a link for the software that exposes the crash on my machine
https://github.com/kingofthebongo2008/vitosha/tree/master/test/irradiance
May be this will help you, to see if something is wrong there.
This exception does not manifests during runtime to the end users, only in the debugger since it is a first chance exception, so i suspect somebody in the hook function does
try
{
GetClassNameA raises exception here
}
cacth
{
do nothing;
}
I think it is with a lstrlen function so it is some kind of string
Thanks for sharing the details King (incase it's not your name please excuse and let me know your correct name to address you properly ).
We could reproduce the issue and seems to be specific to that configuration. It works fine with one of the latest SI configuration. We have our engineers working on this. We will keep you posted. BTW - can you confirm if the below error is what you are seeing?
Yes, exactly.
Thank you
Thank you King. We are checking with our development team on a fix. Will keep you posted. Thanks for your patience.
Good News. We heard from the developer that a fix would be available in our 8.99 release. We are checking if the fix can be ported to latest releases like 8.973 and 8.98 / 8.981. We will keep you posted.
BTW - I was looking at another post from you on this thread.
http://devgurus.amd.com/message/1280846#1280846
Can you confirm if this other thread is still reproducible?
Yes it is.
If you can ask somebody from the dev team what this means may be can figure out the problem.
There are a couple of posts on internet relating , you can google the message
