GPU - OpenCL - xp32bit x86 SP3: Seems to be some driver-problems... [solved]

Hello,

I would like to run the GPU of my radeon-card but there´s a problem and 3 points wich could be usefull to solve  it. I don´t know what´s the matter in this way I just describe the errors and detect them; I need help:

1. If I want to install OpenCL or ATI Stream SDK the installer says:

"The display driver installed on this system does not have OpenCL support for AMD GPUs. If you continue with the current installation, you will still able to run OpenCL on compatible x86 CPUs."

At this point I stopped the installation, the GPU is nessessary. A little bit strange: The Catalyst says "The latest display driver is installed." Otherwise the Win-Systemoperator says there´s active a driver version from 2001... I also tried to uninstall and install the latest display driver from catalyst by the windows installation in a seperate way but the version from 2001 is valid. AAAARGH!!!!

2. I was trying to find a describtion how to solve: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/UnableToSetGPUScaling.aspx

But it doesn´t help, the operating-windows looks very different. I can´t operate to check a box "Enable GPU scaling".

3. Conflicts for several savingpoints/ports(conflict debugger from catalyst):

E/A-Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7    PCI-Bus

E/A-Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7    DMA-Controller

What is it?

System:

Radeon HD5850

Pentium4 3,6Ghz

xp 32bit x86 ServicePack3

Catalyst 12.4 for xp32

Shortly: I would like to install a GPU working OpenCL on this system. Maybe it deals with a kernel?

If there is anything else wich could be nessessary, please ask. Would be happy to get help.

Best regards

Re: GPU - OpenCL - xp32bit x86 SP3: Seems to be some driver-problems...

Thanks for your awnser.

I uninstalled all components and installed AMD-APP-SDK 2.6. While the installation runs there was no error message, but there´s a new problem.

If I want to start the AMDAPPKernelAnalyzer-1.10: windows-err-mess "(...) aticalrt.dll not found (...) can´t start". What´s to do, I can´t find this file anywhere. And there isn´t a catalyst control panel.

By the way, the display driver is valid from 2001 until now and just the CPU is OpenCL available but not the GPU...

In the windows-shell I went to "<path>\AMD APP\bin\x86" and enter the order "clinfo": There´s registered the CPU only.

The system has set up 2 days ago, but it´won´t work(it´s nearly clean without anti-virus software, c ++, OpenSSL and updated). Please help again.

Re: GPU - OpenCL - xp32bit x86 SP3: Seems to be some driver-problems...

i had same issue witk kernel analyzer on my winXP virtualized system. i don't know how to solve it.

do 3D acceleration work? try  GPU Caps Viewer to see what driver is instaled http://www.ozone3d.net/redirect.php?id=401 it also list all opencl devices and have some OpenGL and OpenCL tests.

otherwise migrate to Windows Vista/7 or Linux as WinXP is now unsupported system.

Re: GPU - OpenCL - xp32bit x86 SP3: Seems to be some driver-problems...

I have 5670. I have use the card for games and for Folding@home with opencl. When i install 12.whatever version for XP  surprise surprise there is not Opencl support. I revert back to 11.12 driver and OpenCl is back in action. I will use this driver and after time i will buy NVIDIA . Use GPU-Z to check support of OpenCL. Cheers.
