The demos posted on this page : http://developer.amd.com/samples/demos/pages/ATIRadeonHD5800SeriesRealTimeDemos.aspx
require windows 7 and they won't even install on vista. Why is it so?
I have a 5770 and I am able to run DX11 stuff included with DXSDK in vista and also the new DX11 benchmark 'Heaven' released by Unigine.
Microsoft were supposed to release at Win7's release an update for Vista that enabled DX11, but haven't done this yet. There's a beta of this available, though, which you can get here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=081c218f-c845-47d1-b124-71f80bf21638&displaylang=en

I have already installed the platform update you mentioned and I am able to run all other DX11 stuff but not the ones provided by AMD.
The installer of the Mecha demo exits giving this error : 'This application requires Windows 7'.
Then I guess the demo is testing for this and there's nothing you can do. That's stupid coding, if that's the case.
We have only tested on Win7. We will be releasing an expanded version shortly that will include Vista support.
Since the platform SDK to run dx11 on Vista is in beta, the decision was made to only support Win7 for the initial versions of the demos.
We will be updating the demos once DX11 is out from BETA in Vista.

“Just clicking on the msi installer file will not work as it will tell that the application requires Windows 7.
With a tool like Universal Extractor 1.6 the msi can be unpacked (use the msi2xml extraction option).
In a 'files' subdirectory you will find all required files. They don't have an extension, so insert a '.' before the three last letters of the file name. This enables the demos to run on Vista.
Before those DX11 demos can run, you need to install DX11 first though.”
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, the mecha demo is really nice, great visuals as well as music, now downloading the lady bug demo.
The demos have now been udpated to support Vista in the installer.
