Hi, all:
I got the information from here http://forums.amd.com/devforum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=149109&highlight_key=y that my current video card doesn't support OpenCL. I would like to buy a new desktop, but with limited budget, I'd love to use the on-board video card on the following motherboard at the current stage:
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H 890GX AM3 ATX DDR3 2PCI-E 2PCI SATA3 USB3.0 HDMI GBLAN CrossFireX Motherboard http://ncix.com/products/?sku=51021&vpn=GA-890GPA-UD3H&manufacture=Gigabyte .
Does this integrated ATI video card support OpenCL?
Cheers
JIA
AFAIK no IGPU in chipset is based on anything newer than RV6xx. but IMHO new APU is supprting OpenCL.
so short answer is no.
What GPU does this mother board have. It shoould be a 5xxx for opencl 1.1 support.
I think you can have a motherboard with sufficient power supply and adequate number of PCIe card slots. You can purchase a dedicated GPU of your choice then.
Hi,
The motherboard can be found at http://gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3756#ov . I cited the something related to the on-board integrated video card down here:
ATI Hybrid Graphics Technology support
ATI Hybrid Graphics is a technology umbrella brand encompassing several technologies, such as ATI Hybrid CrossFireX™, ATI SurroundView™, ATI PowerPlay™, etc. that allow both an AMD integrated graphics processor and a discrete graphics processor to work co-operatively on an AMD based system to provide enhanced gaming performance, productivity and platform efficiency to the mainstream PC.
With support for latest ATI CrossFireX™ technology, GIGABYTE pushes the envelope once again by delivering highly optimized performance and flexibility demanded for power users and extreme gaming enthusiasts. Designed to provide unmatched multi-GPU support with dual PCI-E connectivity, the GA-890GPA-UD3H allows users to take advantage of the ultra smooth 3D rendering, blazing-fast frame rates and enhanced visual quality possible.
I may buy a better independent video card later, but definitely not now, a bit over my budget indeed. However, I really expect this board-integrated video card at least support "AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) SDK". http://developer.amd.com/gpu/AMDAPPSDK/Pages/default.aspx .
Thank you all for your every nice and prompt reply. I just need some more info to make a decision what components I need to buy, with a reasonable price under my budget.

Hi
I found this on the specification page:
"Onboard Graphics: Integrated in the North Bridge"
So it should most probably be a fusion device which would support OpenCL.
But please confirm this from Gigabyte and also check whether the integrated GPU is sufficient for your opencl requirements.
