Barcelona is one of the most amazing places on the planet and I can’t tell you how lucky I am to join all the technology leaders converging on this great city. The sights, sounds and flavors – you can’t forget those amazing flavors – provide the perfect backdrop for Mobile World Congress. This show is aptly named as it brings together a massive global assembly dedicated to enriching the technology experience for mobile users. Joining the distinguished list of things only found in Barcelona, Spain, Mobile World Congress never seems to disappoint.

For AMD, this year, we aim to embrace the art of what’s possible with a variety of exciting designs and experiences. Never before has the massive compute power of x86 CPU performance and industry elite graphics been so efficient, nor has it ever been more capable of reshaping the mobile PC experience. With AMD innovation, if you can imagine it, you can bring it to life.

Mobile users continue to demand more, and now they manage to demand less, too…more performance, less power…more battery life, less compromise…more innovative designs, less bulk…and of course, more capabilities, less money. In response to these demands, we invest in designing and developing high performing and efficient mobile processors that can take your experience to new heights, but keep the price grounded.

In pursuit of this challenge, 2014 marks the introduction of the most advanced AMD A-Series Accelerated Processing Units (APUs); these new processors will reestablish performance expectations while increasing mobility with enhanced power efficiency. Due the first half of this year, the new low-power platforms, codenamed “Mullins” and “Beema,” pack massive AMD Radeon™ graphics performance and multi-core computing into impressive new client devices such as tablets, 2-in-1s and small form factor notebooks. The new performance platform, codenamed “Kaveri,” will deliver up to 12 compute cores (4 CPU cores, 8 GPU cores)* and touts cutting edge HSA features for unparalleled speed and performance for premium ultrathin notebooks.

AMD’s mobile portfolio is as strong as ever and you can expect to see these new APUs in a variety of elegant form factors from leading manufacturers starting this summer.  I and the rest of the AMD team look forward to providing a preview of these exciting new processors and, more importantly, the experiences they can deliver with our key software partners.

So if you’re like me, one of the lucky ones, and you happen to be in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, come to Hall 5, booth #5J41. The AMD team and I would be delighted to show you what’s possible with the innovation inspiring tomorrow’s mobile solutions. Hope to see you soon!
