Normally I would buy a board to use AMD cpu, but for a micro atx form factor, most boards don't have all the features I am looking for (ports and stuff). Anyway, I would like to drop in a

Yes. Why even bother with using the onboard chip for video? I would suggest driving the video with the X2. Doing simple 2D window rendering does not stress the GPGPU performance.
udeepta,
that's a very good point. in doing some more research...i now even more strongly that nVidia's gpu is inferior to my AMD gpu. Yes indeed.

Does the above apply to the 4870x2, and is it true with current beta and future releases?
Gerry, if you have to install both nvidia and ATI video drivers, there is a high probability that it will not work.
thx Micah...very useful info.
Micah,
That's very good news. I question remain, if it can handle the 4870x2, will it (I would think it could), that is the sdk v1.4 be able to handle 4850x2?
Thanks,
