I downloaded ati-driver-installer-8-6-x86.x86_64.run and ran the "Auto" install option. Then I ran /usr/bin/aticonfig --initial. I re-booted the machine and only got a blank screen - nothing ever appeared on it! Eventually I re-installed openSuSE 11.
What did I do wrong? I've read that "Catalyst 8.6 for Linux doesn't support the Linux 2.6.26 kernel or X.Org 7.4 (X Server 1.5)." SuSE 11 has the 2.6.25.5 kernel. I'm not sure about the X-server.
