athlon 64 x2 4800+ windows 10 64 bit

Hi friends, I am trying to understand whether it is possible or not to run windows 10 64 bit on an athlon 64 x2 4800+ with 42-4 gb ram on an MSI MS-7309 motherboard.

It is actually running windows 7 pro 64 bit with 2 gb ram, and it runs smooth, no problem.

I have read another previous post in these support forums asking almost the same question with a 250 microprocessor.

The answer there was that it is possible.

FYI is Athlon II X2 compatible windows 10 64 bits

and having done a surface search, I might understand perhaps it is not possible to test win 10 64bit ( AMD Athlon X2 4800+ vs II X2 250  ) but I respect your opinion since you are completelly dedicated to AMD so I'll be patiently waiting for as many answers as possible all of them will be well received, and I thank you in advance for your compromise on assisting people.

I would suggest contacting MSI and see if that motherboard is compatible with Windows 10. The problem you might have is finding Windows 10 drivers for your motherboard's Nvidia Chipset and other hardware on your motherboard. At MSI Support your motherboard drivers are all Windows 7 and below.

Here is Windows 10 Minimum System Requirements from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028142/windows-10-system-requirements

By the way, your Motherboard Model number is either K9N6SGM-V/ K9N6SM-FI / K9N6SGM-F. Here is the last drivers from MSI Support: Support For K9N6SGM-V / K9N6PGM-FI / K9N6PGM-F | Motherboard - The world leader in motherboard desig...

If you do upgrade to Windows 10, just to be on the safe side, do a full Windows System Backup of Windows 7.

I thank your advice, and it is clear that according to the link you attached it would accept win 10 64bit, although it makes no mention to PAE/NX/SSE2, so the limit being memory and processor speed.

That CPU can run Windows 10 but I would recommend more RAM

Windows 10 x64 runs best with 8GB or more RAM

Thanks, I also have guessed it would run it, and definitely I was going to test it, (I have never before used any 64 bit OS and curiosity is driving me to try and test it, as I can perfectly do the stuff I am used to in a 32 bit environment.
