xGen and PFX

If I could render out xGen or Paint Effects hair without having to go through the process of converting everything to geometry first and doing that whole song and dance, I would be such a happy boy.

If there is already an answer to this, that would also make me a happy boy.

I am newer to this whole thing and would really like to be able to just use one render engine to get what I want, which right now isn't a whole lot...

Is it possible?

As far as I know there is no render engines supporting fully Maya Paint Effects and xGen. Some workarounds are there for Arnold. Vray partially supports Paint effects but xGen is fully supported though. So prorender is not only one in this regard.
