990FX/SB950 Chipset drivers not working with Samsung 860 PRO SSD

ASUS M5AA99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard with chipset 990FX/SB950 M5A99FX PRO R2.0 | Motherboards | ASUS USA

CPU FX 6300 Black Edition. FX-6300

SSD MZ-76P256BW Samsung 860 PRO 2.5" SATA III 256GB

SSD 860 PRO 2.5" SATA III 256GB Memory & Storage - MZ-76P256BW | Samsung US

Using AMD Chipset drivers (under ' IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers ' .." AMD SATA controller ") causes issues with Samsung 860 Evo + Samsung 860 Pro 2.5 SSD's.

I read forums that date back to 2013- Samsung 840, 850, now 2018- 860's that all have the same issues with this exact chipset.

Doesn't matter if it is windows 7, windows 10

Doesn't matter if it is ASUS boards, ASrock , Gigibyte ... as long as they all have to deal with 990FX/SB950 chipset and AMD driver for it, it causes a lot of issues with Samsung SSD's.

27 minutes to run CrystalDiskMark! (instead of 3.5 minutes!)

Score results in Samsung Magician is 500 read, 75 write! (27 minutes to complete)

Samsung Magician shows an error VID 1002.

When I right click on " AMD SATA controller " and 'roll back driver' to windows, the problem SOMEWHAT goes away. Both CrystalDiskMark and Samsung Magician runs at 3-4 minutes. The Sequential Read and Write are (Samsung Memory Support ) -> "about where they should be"

but the rest of the test scores are (Samsung Memory Support ) ->" 50-100 MB/s lower then average".

Fresh install windows testing.

Any advice on that topic?

Use the standard MSAHCI driver, it's actually a little faster than AMDAHCI.

I have this problem too.

My 850 pro worked fine, 860 pro is freezing and gives event 129 port reset.

Its the 860 series thats the problem.

MSAHCI is not faster BTW
