I installed a new CentOS 6.9 and updated the PCI-IDs so that the card is recognized. I downloaded the latest AMDAPPSDK 3.0, and was able to build and run most of the examples.
However, the OpenCL 2.0 are failing, saying that the card does not support OpenCL 2.0. I'm attaching the clinfo that shows it SAYS it is OpenCL 2.0 Profile, and OpenCL 1.2 Device.
Also, in the 2.0 examples, there are three programs that refuse to load because of the '#include "atomic"', which I suspect is related to the gcc being pre-5.0.
[root@localhost 2.0]# gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.4.7 20120313 (Red Hat 4.4.7-18)
I downloaded the latest CodeXL, and it doesnt recognize the card. Trying to run Profile on GPU for the example, says to reference the Project Settings, where it says
'GPU Performance Counters are available only for AMD devices with a Catalyst driver installed.'
clinfo output:

So, trying to get a working OpenCL environment, and happy to purge and reformat if there is another release or packages that need to be installed. Open to all suggestions .

Which driver did you install? With the latest amdgpu-pro, you should not use APP SDK. Please find below threads:
Another point to mention. Currently amdgpu-pro supports OpenCL 1.2 only [AMDGPU-PRO Driver for Linux® Release Notes -> "Base Feature Support"]
