gkeawe Jul 20, 2017 7:40 AM (in response to rebelyell)Loving the VM performance on these Ryzen's. Have you tested faster memory? I tested only DDR4-3200 so far.

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
rebelyell Jul 20, 2017 8:30 PM (in response to gkeawe)yea. i run the G.skill flare-x 3200mhz sticks but they also run 3466 with 16Ltimings but i run them at 3600mhz sme timings very very good sticks. well known to be the ryzen silver bullets. ive seen 1 person that hangs in here run 4000mhz rgb sticks, but i tried them 3200mhz wasnt very stable 3600 crash city. so yea for now the flare-x 3200 is the ticket.

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
gkeawe Jul 21, 2017 12:46 AM (in response to rebelyell)Oh yeah, I am running a set of FlareX DDR4-3200 in my 1600X, I'll have to see if I can push them to 3600.

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
rebelyell Jul 21, 2017 1:22 AM (in response to gkeawe)yea, set them to 16 1 6 1 6 18 38 .. there actually 3466 sticks anyway. and g.skill timings.. its going to need some extra volts and a bump up on the SOC volts and vboot for boot time to ... good luck set the ram training boot fails to about 6 attempts ... or it wont train the sticks im sure...

gkeawe Jul 21, 2017 2:08 AM (in response to rebelyell)yeah, it didn't work, I figured it was too much. Oh well, I might have to get faster memory to test it out.

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
rebelyell Jul 22, 2017 12:02 AM (in response to gkeawe)well to be honest you need the mother board with all the extra options to tweak it or it just will not post. if 3466 didnt post its the board.. you have to have the vboot option in the in tweakers paradise synced to the dram volts for boot time and the SOC volts to 1.1875 and the ram volts atleast 1.45 to even get the training to work. and atleast 4 or more boot fail attempts. i could right every single timing down so it dont need to train the ram timings but theres alot of them.. .. like 15-20 timings. or so...

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
gkeawe Jul 22, 2017 2:33 AM (in response to rebelyell)I do have the Asus Prime X370-Pro with the 0805 AGESA 1.0.0.6a Bios. It's been stable since the new bios update. The performance with the Ryzen 5 1600X is outstanding. I'm currently running a pair of FlareX memory modules DDR4-3200. I've seen the specs on the EPYC cpu's and they use 2400 or 2666. I've underclocked my memory to 2666 to see how it performs. It's pretty responsive still at 2666MHz and I think there's less stress on the memory controller. Man I love these Ryzen CPU's. I can't wait for the new Ryzen Pro's and Ryzen Mobiles to come out, manufacturers should start building EPYC based servers soon. No more underpowered servers and workstations. I need a good ITX mainboard to throw my Ryzen 5 1500X, any suggestions?

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
rebelyell Jul 22, 2017 2:49 AM (in response to gkeawe)youll probably find those epyc 2400-2666 are dual rank dimms. i get almost 10k more reads and writes at 3600mhz than 2400 . i will have my 3 day uptime test dont tommorrow and no memory leaks yet. the mem controller needs a boost for higher clocks. thats the SOC voltage.. and the vddp_1.8 needs bumped up to support the soc just a little bit is all. i run the c6h board. but since the ryzen memory mapping hole is between 2933 and 3200 you eather need to stay below or go over the erroring hole. as with any cpu has a mapping hole.. but on high end boards you can bump up the od_clvddp voltage to close the gap on the hole..

Re: Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on Ryzen 7 1700
rebelyell Jul 21, 2017 1:24 AM (in response to gkeawe)if it only gets 3466 mhz your better off at 3200.. the 3466 mhz was just a tiny bit less performance than 3200 but 3600 jumped way up on performance...
