The maximum resolution I get on my Dell UP2716D monitor trough HDMI is only 2048x1080 at 60 Hz.

I have a Radeon HD 4890 graphic card on my computer. Recently I bought a Dell UP2716D monitor which have the native resolution of  2560x1440 at 60 Hz. My monitor have only DP and HDMI ports. I have connected an HDMI cable to my monitor and have used the HDMI to DVI adapter (which came with my graphic card) to connect to one of the Radeon HD 4890 DVI ports.

Any thoughts on why I cannot use the maximum native resolution of 2560x1440 at 60 Hz?
