There are no Windows XP drivers for your product.
Oh really? According to an e-mail from AMD tech support (see below) the two R7 200 drivers (Catalyst 14.4) on their website ARE compatible with the R7 240. Of course neither seem to work with my card.

I understand that you have a query regarding the driver support for the graphic card R7 240 compatible with the Windows XP 32bit OS.
You have tried both the driver files, (Catalyst 14.4)
Please be informed that both the driver files 195Mb and 179Mb, are the same and compatible with the R7 240 graphic card. The only difference between them is the 179Mb driver file where it adds two more devices to its compatibility list.

I would request you to perform the clean installation of the provided driver.
Clean installation is nothing but removing all the leftovers of the previous/existing driver from the system completely. Overwriting on the existing driver causes driver files conflict and could lead to some performance issue.
To perform this, please make use of the DDU<http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html> tool, a device driver uninstallation utility.
I would request you to uninstall the drivers by entering to Safe Mode on your computer. It will help you completely uninstall AMD graphics card drivers and packages from your system, without leaving leftovers behind.
Once the older/existing driver is completely removed, please download and install the provided driver.
Ensure that you have installed all the available critical, recommended and optional updates. Often .Net framework and Visual C are included in the recommended or optional updates. Windows should always be fully up to date before installing our drivers.
