Based on the fact that you have a laptop and the age of your graphics card, i would suggest you DO NOT update the driver and cancel out of any prompt suggesting you do.
It's ok you suggest, but I don't agree. Since this software upgrade is for AMD Radeon 7000M too, I does not sense to defame my hardware, especially when the software begin to update automatically so, I understand that the Crimson Version 16.7.3 must be fully compatible with my hardware.
The problem sounds like a bug on the driver.
Your laptop is equipped with switchable graphics. In order to update the AMD driver, the Intel graphics must be the current version. Go to this Intel link, and use the Intel Driver Update Utility to find the latest graphics driver for your laptop. Download and save it to your desktop.
Download these AMD drivers to your desktop. > Mobile
Now delete the Intel drivers from your computer using 'uninstall a program' in the computer control panel. Uninstall the AMD drivers from your computer using the 'uninstall a program' in the computer control panel.
Computers with Intel processors select 'express' uninstall all AMD software including the install manager.
Computers with AMD processors custom uninstall the AMD graphics driver and Catalyst Control Panel only.
Note: All anti-malware/anti-virus/anti-anything should be disabled during driver installation.
Now install the Intel drivers first....reboot. And lastly the AMD drivers....reboot.
NOTICE: If you do not want raptr/gaming evolved installed with your new drivers, select 'custom install' and uncheck the box for "gaming Evolved".
If you are having issues with the normal installation of the Mobility drivers, use the clean install method , making sure you install the latest Intel drivers.
I have the same problem than Jbenini but not on a laptop. I have the Radeon 7800 series and my motherboard is the MSI Z77A-G45.
I tried to uninstall the AMD driver and reboot but nothing change. My computer use an old driver but I still have a problem to run the game "Life is strange" (apparently due to the AMD driver).
Edit : I've formatted my PC and now it works. I don't know why but something were probably missing on my computer...
Yes your probably right.
I have more discoveries about this issue.
Today I've formated my notebook, and when the Windows became available to use I have downloaded the intel video driver, installed it and reboot; then after the logon I have the same procedure for Radeon Software Crimson Edtion version 16.7.3 and guess what, It worked successfully.
But it's not ended on the way I wished
After the video drivers installation, I procedure to download my programs and the Windows Update.
I made the download of the Windows 10 update Anniversary Edition (Version 1607), it installed and reboot.
Then, my radeon software stopped and don't work anymore, instead it shows an error window about a Dynamic Link Library error, pointing to a dll file inside the Radeon folder on Program Files.
I tried to remove the software, but the Radeon program don't work even on uninstall, it stays installed like a tick.
I run msconfig and select the initialization at minimal to remove the Radeon Software via safe mode, but my Windows don't initialized anymore after this.
Now I'm making another format and installation, and I will apply the older version of the Radeon once more.
Since I've deleted all the content, I lost the error message and the screenshot showing the Dynamic Link Library error for your comment.
So, I'm conclude that the 16.7.3 have some problem with the Windows Update version 1607.
Same device and same problem here...
I will try to install different versions when i have succeed i reply you.
Updates.... Working only with installing by Microsoft update. Driver Version: 15.201.1101.0.
Sometimes during playing i got crashes. If i update do lastest driver, on driver manager i'll receive error code 43.
Impossible to play, i need a fix to this bug... I'm afraid of losing this notebook.
Since the Hotfix 19.6.2 has been released, I installed it and now I have the latest driver working fine.
That previous driver have a bug for switchable graphics adapter.
