I'm trying to play Skyrim on my laptop that has the AMD Radeon 7970m. Back when I had the 12x version of the drivers installed, the game ran great. I'm currently using the 14.10 version now and the game doesn't even recognize 7970m in the options. Rather, it only shows the Intel HD Graphics 4000. Since this is the only adapter I can use, gameplay is really choppy.
According to Catalyst, it looks like I'm using the 14.10 drivers but when I first bought my laptop, it was using one of the older 12x releases (and that's when Skyrim could see and use the 7970m!).
So is there any way I can download an older set of drivers anywhere to rollback to? Thoughts?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Yup....first thing to do is go to Windows Update and get your computer current. Especially the 'Optional' updates which will include the C++ and .netframeworks upgrades. I am assuming you already have SP1 installed. After that is finished:
Your laptop is equipped with switchable graphics. In order to update the AMD driver, the Intel graphics must be the current version. Go to this Intel link, and use the Intel Driver Update Utility to find the latest graphics driver for your laptop. Download and save it to your desktop.

Download these AMD drivers to your desktop.> Mobile
Now delete the Intel drivers from your computer using 'uninstall a program' in the computer control panel. Uninstall the AMD drivers from your computer using the 'uninstall a program' in the computer control panel.
NOTICE IMPORTANT:
Computers with Intel processors select 'express' uninstall all AMD software including the install manager.
Computers with AMD processors custom uninstall the AMD graphics driver and Catalyst Control Panel only.
Reboot.
Note: All anti-malware/anti-virus/anti-anything should be disabled during driver installation.
Now install the Intel drivers first....reboot. And lastly the AMD drivers....reboot.
NOTICE: If you do not want raptr/gaming evolved installed with your new drivers, select 'custom install' and uncheck the box for "gaming Evolved".
If you are having issues with the normal installation of the Mobility drivers, use the clean install method , making sure you install the latest Intel drivers.
