After Update from Win 8.1 the Video Overlay function doesn't work anymore. Total Media Theater told me, probably Graphiccard (7970) does not sopport Video Overlay.
Can you please tell me how to fix this problem?
Yes, it is a very annoying problem and affects many programs not just Total Media Theater ( i.e.all programs that try to use hardware overlay on Windows 10, mainly video players, capture card softwares).
But contrary to Windows 8 hardware overlay issues (Overlay mixer seems to be broken in Windows 8) this time it is a pure AMD driver issue. Both Intel and NVIDIA successfully made working WDDM 2.0 drivers that still support hardware video overlay under Windows 10. AMD is the big exception.
Turning to the point your only chance is to use an older Windows 8.1 (WDDM 1.3) driver that is still supported under Windows 10.
This way you get back hardware video overlay support. Google for 'amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-with-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit.exe'.
Please AMD, fix this issue ASAP.
Thank you very much. It's just a way for me. It worked.
I've opened a ticket with Engineering on this issue.
Great. Let's hope that driver developers return overlay support will not be a big problem. Thank you for your cooperation. We will wait...
