tekkiaussie Jul 29, 2015 7:20 AM (in response to rodrigopolo)1 of 3 people found this helpful"I find (it) quite impressive" that you call 4 paragraphs of complaints and "Nvidia is so much better" lines, "background info". To me this is like someone going into a Mc Donalds and telling the cashier for 5 min how the Burger King, right next door, is so much better, and then demanding a free upgrade from a Happy Meal to a Large Big Mac Meal.
From what I can tell Nvidia (which you are tout so highly) only has BootCamp Drivers for the Quadro 4000 & Quadro K5000 series cards? I might be wrong about this but your "complaint blog" just needed to be labeled as it is.

Re: AMD FirePro D700/D500/D300 Windows 10 Boot Camp Driver
rodrigopolo Jul 29, 2015 8:06 AM (in response to tekkiaussie)Is fair enough to call them complaints and from an emotional point of view it could be viewed as that, but what I shared is my experience, what I'm going trough, a comparison of experiences between two brands that compete in many levels to get customers, the main purpose is to show why AMD is behind in the race.
I'm NOT demanding a "free upgrade", I have already paid a fair price for a presumably high quality product but it looks like one of the top line products AMD produces is not in their priority list.
Nvidia provide a single driver for most of their products, the very same driver that works in an assembled PC is the same you can use in the MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro Retina, iMac or any other Mac that uses an Nvidia card, even if it is a Quadro card.
So, you can label it as you want, in the end the lack of a functional Windows driver for the AMD FirePro D700/D500/D300 cards is there, not to mention a Windows 10 driver.

If it was possible to change Graphic Cards on Mac Pro Late 2013, I would have changed to Nvida Quadra Today!
And I agree With you Rodri!
Tekki, We paid an really fair price for this, just to get bad support back, we are talking about Workstations Graphics, they can be really expensive and could need a lot of support.
And they still have some problems in 8.1 to!!

Re: AMD FirePro D700/D500/D300 Windows 10 Boot Camp Driver
cliffback Jul 31, 2015 1:12 AM (in response to rodrigopolo)1 of 1 people found this helpfulI've successfully upgraded to Windows 10, and I'm currently using what you could called "modded" AMD drivers. I have used them fore a while, after I grew tired of no updates, and learned about the method on some forums. Right now I have installed the AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 update, and it runs just fine. Have used modded drivers for some months, and haven't encountered any issues (once I got a successfull install).
I have a Mac Pro (2013) with the D700s.
The process, which actually is quite easy:1. Download the latest driver (at the moment of writing 15.7.1), the AMD Omega 14.12 driver, and the official December Bootcamp Driver 14.301.2. Make a new folder called "modded driver", which purpose explains itself.
3. Copy everytning from the latest driver to "modded driver".
4. Copy everything from the Bin64 folder of the Omega driver and overwrite everyting in the Bin64 folder of "modded driver".
5. Copy "InstallManagerApp.exe" and "InstallManager.dll" from the Bin64 folder of the December Bootcamp driver, and overwrite the corresponding files in the Bin64 folder of "modded drivers".
6. Now you are ready to install the driver. Just run "setup.exe" in the root folder of "modded drivers"
Now you should have new and better performing drivers installed, working perfectly with Windows 10.If you have problems with the Catalyst software, which I had on the latest driver updates in Windows 8.1 (but not anymore on Windows 10), do the same process with an earlier version of the driver (15.5 worked for me), run the setup, and chose custom installation. Here you only chose to install Catalyst. Now Catalyst should work properly too. Also, if you encounter any more problems using this method, you should uninstall the driver using "Display Driver Uninstaller", and probably delete everything AMD related in the registry (CMD+R, regedit).Hope it works for you too! That being said, I'm really disappointed in the Bootcamp support, and the driver updates. I'm actually thinking about selling my Mac Pro, and building a pure Windows desktop, and no more AMD!!! I'm doing a lot of video editing in Premiere Pro CC, and have the experience have disappointed med, compared to how much money I put in it. No way I want to switch to FinalCut X (testet it with the trial). Also I game a lot, and that's not great in either OSX or Windows/Bootcamp, especially on new games that require driver updates with new profiles. I can play Borderlands 2 in 4K, but almost can't play The Witcher 3 in 1080p, even with the latest (modded) drivers.
Btw. don't blame me if you brick your GPU (which I don't think it's likely to happen, but I just have to say it).-

mrrobot Jul 31, 2015 3:01 PM (in response to cliffback)6 of 6 people found this helpfulThanks cliffback, I can confirm this works on Windows 10 build 10240 *****IF***** you use the Catalyst 15.5 beta drivers (and NOT the 15.7.1).
I've modified the instructions accordingly. Before completing these steps you should uninstall everything using the catalyst display uninstall wizard.
1. Download the AMD Catalyst 15.5 beta drivers for Windows 8.1,
the AMD Omega 14.12 driver for Windows 8.1,
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2439/amd-catalyst-14-12-omega-win-8-1-64-bit/mirrors
and the official December Bootcamp Driver 14.301.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/bootcamp
2. Make a new folder called "modded driver", which purpose explains itself.
3. Copy everytning from the 15.5 beta driver to "modded driver".
After installing the new drivers kicked in and I was prompted to restart. After restart everything works perfectly, FirePro Control Center and the Windows Device Manager detects the D300's as dual AMD Radeon R9 200 series. Crossfire works.

Re: AMD FirePro D700/D500/D300 Windows 10 Boot Camp Driver
cliffback Aug 2, 2015 6:26 AM (in response to deathsilver)I'm running the latest drivers 15.7.1, and I did exactly what I wrote in my first post. I didn't even uninstall drivers using DDU. It could have to do with me doing the install over an already modded driver or something, but I'm not sure.
On Windows 8.1 Catalyst didn't run when I did as I described, and I had to uninstall Catalyst (only), and install Catalyst from the latest working modded driver (15.5). Windows 10 solved the problem for me, and I didn't need to do that. Hope it helps.

cliffback Aug 2, 2015 6:26 AM (in response to mrrobot)Nice updating it with links. Was to lazy to find them myself
But 15.7.1 worked for me. If you tested it, what was the problem? Was it Catalyst? If it was, you could try uninstalling it (only Catalyst), and then installing only Catalyst from the latest completely working driver (15.5). That said, it worked for me without doing it. On Windows 8.1 I had to do this on all drivers after 15.5, but after upgrading to Windows 10, the Catalyst worked right out of the install.
Also, I didn't need to clean/uninstall the drivers using DDU, but that probably has to do me upgrading from an already modded driver.

Dear AMD,
It's really not hard to make a driver that works on Mac Pro devices (D300, D500, D700). You don't need to make users frustrated and send them to Apple or Microsoft. Just look into why Modded Driver is working and put it in a bloody installer file. It will probably take one hour of your experts time.
Cheers!

macmutsch Dec 11, 2015 1:18 PM (in response to mrrobot)Thanks for sharing your experience and findings!
Although I'm using my 6,1 (6-Core, D500) for my work and I'm also a Windows 10 Insider/Betatester for about 1 year now, I'm not really sure if I will keep Windows on this Mac as there are so many performance issues e.g. with the AMD graphics drivers.
Has anyone done some tests before and after installing the modded drivers..?
E.g. Unigine Valley/Heaven, Luxmark or FireStrike..?
Unigine Valley/Heaven should be the best indicator for games, I really would like to know how much better the modded / newer drivers are.
Concerning the questions at the beginning of this Thread about the NVIDIA Webdrivers for NVIDIA graphics cards for OS X - those drivers are of course not only for Quadro workstation cards but will work with the latest GeForce gaming cards as well.
I'm using a Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming in my classic Mac Pro 5,1 as well as with my new Mac Pro 6,1 (eGPU / external GPU via Thunderbolt), the NVIDIA Webdrivers are great and the 980 Ti is of course a lot better than my two D500.
I really would appreciate if AMD would spend as much effort developing and updating their drivers for their own graphics cards inside certain Macs as NVIDIA does...

Re: AMD FirePro D700/D500/D300 Windows 10 Boot Camp Driver
wetwillyhip Sep 17, 2015 4:23 AM (in response to cliffback)Cliff, (& anyone else who wants to weigh in)
I have a Mac Pro 2013 with 32GB Memory, 6-core 3.5GHz & D700s.
I play a PC game called Guild Wars 2 in Windows 8.1 on Bootcamp. The unfortunate thing, as others have pointed out, is the lack of graphics driver updates from AMD/Apple.
I'm running the last known driver available to me from AMD which was released LAST DECEMBER 2014.
While playing, I'm getting these black screen interruptions that last a few seconds and then the game recovers and comes back.
Actually what was said below by motiongrapher is what is occurring for me during gaming.
motiongrapher Aug 5, 2015 12:23 AM (in response to rodrigopolo)
Hi,
I'm getting a very annoying error repeating a few times a day. The screen goes black and after a few seconds i get this error :
“Display driver stopped responding and has recovered”
My system details :
Mac Pro 2015
FirePro D300
Windows 8.1 (latest update)
Bootcamp (latest version)
........
I want to see if I can upgrade my graphics drivers to anything above Driver 14.301.
I'm currently also running Catalyst version 13.1.
The trick here is seeing if I can get some sort of updates without moving up to Windows 10. I'd prefer to stay in Windows 8.1 for now.
I want to see if updating drivers will fix my black screen issues that occur at random with GW2.
Sometimes I can play all day without it occurring. Other times the black screen issue occurs right away and frequently.
Will your steps solve my issue even if I stay on Windows 8.1?
But they're only available within Bootcamp 6 if you run Yosemite on the mac side?
Right now I'm running the Bootcamp 5.1 b/c I'm running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks on the mac side.
Is there anything I'm missing?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Thomas
