AMD CodeXL Analyze mode disabled

Hi everybody,

I was going deeply using CodeXL and I've unfortunately realized that CodeXL Analyze mode is currently disabled on my system and I was wondering why.

Features of my laptop:

- OpenCL 1.2

- CodeXL 1.3

- Windows 7 Professional

- 64bit OS

- Visual Studio 2010

- AMD Radeon R9M290X GPU

- Intel Xeon 8 cores CPU

Regards,

Marco

Hi,

The advanced CPU profiling features you referred to (Event Based Profiling and Instruction Based Sampling) are only available on AMD CPUs.

Time Based Profiling is available on CPUs by other vendors.

Sorry, I didn't explore it yet completely. It works. Just loading or creating a new project.

Anyway, why many functions related to CPU (cache line utilization, L2 cache access and so on) are disabled? Does it depend from the fact that the CPU is not from AMD brand?

Hi Marco,

The 1.3 release of CodeXL that you have installed is outdated and does not conform to the driver installed on your laptop. I suggest you update to a recent CodeXL release, such as CodeXL 1.8 which was just released yesterday!
