How Many Color Look Up Tables per GPU?

How many color Look Up Tables (LUT) are on each AMD video card?

I ask because to color calibrate more than one monitor, such as photographers, photo editors, graphic artists and people working in industries that require precise color matching require;  it is useful, if not mandatory, to have a separate LUT for each monitor that requires calibration and is being driven by that video card.

A typical color calibration device is the Spyder 4 Elite made by Datacolor

I'm particularly interested in the FirePro 4900 video card.

Hi,

The V4900 has 6 independent display controllers, each has a color correction unit.

You can find some more details on the display engine of the Northern Island generation GPUs in the following whitepaper:

Good morning

I am a Color Consultant and I preparing a training to photographers and other professionals that needs calibrate color on their displays.

I would like to know how to have information about how many displays each graphic card can handle. Then, I need to go to Windows or Mac Color Management controls and define different ICCs for each display.

Other important issue to this market is the color bit depth. We work with professional monitors with 10 bits.

I am looking for a way to see this information on specs sheet.

Because this kind of professional looks for computers that has this special feature. Handle color in a professional way.

Thank you

Hi,

all FirePro boards support 10 Bit through DisplayPort. You can enable 10 Bit in the Workstation Tab of the Catalyst ControlCenter. Please note that 10 Bit needs to be supported by the application as well. The application needs to request a 10 Bit Visual for rendering. Please check the FirePro SDK website, you will find a whitepaper as well as some sample code for 10 Bit: http://developer.amd.com/tools/gpu/AMDFireproSDK/Pages/default.aspx

The current DisplayEngine of the FirePro boards support 6 displays. Anyhow most of the boards have only 4 DP connectrs so you can connect 4 monitors directly. On boards of the current generation you have full support for DP 1.2 so you can use a DP hub to connect up to 6 displays regardless of the number of connectors. Please check the FirePro web site for more details: http://www.amd.com/DE/PRODUCTS/WORKSTATION/GRAPHICS/ATI-FIREPRO-3D/Pages/ati-firepro-3d.aspx
