gDEBugger state variables comparison viewer

Hi all,

I am trying gDEBugger 6.2 for Linux, after some time without using it. And I am missing what I consider one of the most useful features for debugging OpenGL programs, the "State Variables Comparison Viewer" dialog. It was present in old Graphic Remedy gDEBugger. ( http://www.gremedy.com/images/screenshot14.gif )

Was it removed in the new AMD version? Or is it in a place I didn't find?

Thanks in advance.

Javier.

By the way, when exporting a "State Variables Snapshot" to compare the text files, all variables have value "N/A", when in the gDEBugger window they have the right values.

Moreover, the snapshot is exported to a text file encoded in something like UTF-32 that no editor can open.

Is this a known bug, or is it a problem in my Linux box?

Thanks in advance.

Javier.

Hi Javier,

thanks for using gDEBugger.

The "State Variables Comparison Viewer" issue is a known bug with gDEBugger 6.2 version.

All the functionality of gDEBugger is now offered by our new tool called CodeXL.

CodeXL offers GPU/CPU profiling capability along with GPU Debugging.

More on this tool at the following location:

http://developer.amd.com/tools/hc/CodeXL/pages/default.aspx

CodeXL is still in Beta.

The issue that you are facing with state variable comparison viewer should be fixed in our later versions of CodeXL.

Thanks,

Kalyan P

Thanks for your response. I'll keep an eye on CodeXL, it's a pity that the comparison viewer is still not available.

Regards,

Javier

All values being N/A: There was a problem with the state variable snapshot in gDEBugger - the same features should work properly in the CodeXL beta.

UTF-32: This is also a known issue that happened on all Linux machines for any file exported by gDEBugger (log files, state variable snapshots, statistics snapshots, etc. It should be fixed in the CodeXL as well.

As for the state variable comparison viewer - it was removed from gDEBugger 6.0 and onwards and from CodeXL (though it may make a return at some point - it's on our want list for future features).

gDEBugger 5.8 is still available from http://www.gremedy.com - and it comes with a complementary one-year license, so you can use the comparison viewer there in the meantime.

Thanks for your response. I tested the latest CodeXL and the same problems remain (including the N/A values). I look forward to test the new release of CodeXL.

Regards,

Javier.
