I was using gDEbugger 5.8 with Catalyst 11.5 and found it incredibly useful. I discovered there was a newer version (6.0) with integration in visual studio and figured I should try it to see if there are any new features I can use. I only use it for debugging OpenGL.
I installed the new gDEBugger, but it seemed to refuse to recognize my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650. I don't remember the exact message it was giving me, but it was pretty similar to this one from another post "The version of Catalyst you have installed does not contain support for this version of gDEBugger. Kernel debugging will be disabled. It is recommended to install the latest versions of both Catalyst and gDEBugger". It would also give me no debug information for OpenGL.
I updated my drivers to Catalyst 11.8 and now both gDEbugger 5.8 and 6.0 started to crash. 5.8 would let me hit the pause button or a breakpoint, but would crash if I tried to open any of the viewer windows. 6.0 crashes as soon as I hit the pause button or a breakpoint.
I noticed another post saying there might be something needed in 11.7, so I uninstalled 11.8, ran driver sweeper to clean up any remaining files and installed 11.7, but I have the same exact problem as with 11.8. Both gDEbuggers still crash.

When the system crashed did the "Send crash report" dialog appeared and did you use it to send the crash log?
You can send that information so we can get more data to understand the problem, or you can post here the information and the logs (from 5.8 and/or 6.0).

I haven't seen a private message and it is saying I have no new private messages. I checked to make sure private messages were turned on and they are, so not really sure why I haven't gotten anything.
Are there any news on this issue?
I am also facing the same problem. I have a Redwood and gdebugger keeps on crashing on my kernel. The Teapot sample works fine and can be debugged but none of my kernels work.
I also sent a bug report for this.
Are there any known bugs. This is happening on a Win 7 64 bit.
On a different machine with a Cayman I see the following message.
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address to which it does not have access.
Any ideas ?
Just wanted to add, that i experience almost the same problem, except that in my case, gDEBugger crashes right after launching the debug process from withing it's menu. Normal debugging works OK. The report windowed shows up and i pressed the "Send" button. After that, VS crashes.
I got Win 7 (x86), AMD 6870, Cat. 11.8, VS 2010 (SP1).
