I installed ati-driver-installer-11-7-x86.x86_64.run on my E-350 notebook (with Fedora 15), and then downloaded and opened the AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5-lnx64.tgz SDK tarball. AMD_APP_SDK_Installation_Notes.pdf mentions that I just need to run the Install-APP.sh file to put the files in the proper places. Unfortunately, the Install-APP.sh is absent from the SDK distribution. So I'm kind of stuck. Any ideas where that file went?
Oh, dang. I missed it. It was in the first of the nested tarballs.
For future reference, AMD, community standards suggest that a tarball expand into a new directory, and not dump files into cwd. It's been that way for a few decades now.
To be more specific,
% tar -xzf AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5-lnx64.tgz
Should expand into a new directory called AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5-lnx64 such that
% cd AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5-lnx64
% ./Install-AMD-APP.sh
installs the software.
Hi Mstock,
Is the Install-AMD-APP.sh file available in the package?
Are you able to install the package?
Yep, I was able to install the package. I was just confused when untarring the distribution littered files throughout my home directory. That should really be fixed.
