Hi,
What kind of processing units are being developed based on OpenCL in addition to CPU and GPU ?
- for embedded systems ?
- for tablet computers ?
- for smart phones ?
- for mobile devices ?
Thanks in advance,
Ronnie
I don't think it's really appropriate for us to comment on what other Khronos members are developing so you're unlikely to get significant AMD feedback on this.
Referring to http://www.amd.com/uk/products/desktop/apu/Pages/apu.aspx
is that device a Processing Units (APU) ?
Can it be treated as one processing unit for OpenCL - in the same way as GPU ?
Thanks for any feedback in advance
Ronnie
If it were all one processing unit you'd have to optimise your code twice for one kernel launch, which doesn't really make sense. Until people have solved the problem of performance portability it's best to treat that kind of device as two processing units and hence that's how we deal with it.

You can find out more information on embedded platforms at http://www.amd.com/us/products/embedded/graphics-processors/Pages/embedded-display-graphics.aspx
