PerfStudio frame profiler samples GPUTime incorrectly on HD2600

Hi,

I tryed to profile some MS DXSDK samples, but the GPUTimer counter in Frame profiler always returns something like 4 million ms for every draw call. I'm using win7 64bit(but that also happens in vista 32) with a 11.3 driver, HD2600 and PerfStudio 2.5. Client and servers are running in a single system.

Steps:

1: connect to CubemapGS sample in MS DX SDK.

2: pause, and select only GPUTime counter.

3: press Profile.

4: data displayed for all API calls are 4,454,040 ms.

Is that a known issue? Or did I miss anything?

Thanks,

Hello,

Yes this is a known issue with our profiling library, but it is actually a driver issue. I will do some additional testing and will try to revisit this issue with the driver engineers. I will also double check to make sure there is a KB article about it and will update the KB if any additional information becomes available.

Hello RacingPHT,

We revisited the issue and discovered that it was indeed a bug in GPUPerfAPI. The issue has been resolved and we have made GPUPerfAPI 2.8 publicly available.

Please find the new version available at: http://developer.amd.com/gpu/GPUPerfAPI/Pages/default.aspx

Thank you for reporting the issue and we welcome any additional feedback that you have!
