open source aparapi, please

I've tried out Aparapi. It's so cool! I really like it!

Please, open source Aparapi so it can evolve faster.

There are so many ways how to improve it... I'd love to hack on it. There are many students, researches and professionals who'd be also interested.

Open source the Aparapi! Sparkle the innovation! Earn money on gpu sales 😉

Here's what I would do now:

  • open source it under apache2 or some other nice license
  • release on github or similar
  • bugtracker, wiki, mailing list, maven repo, ...

Keep up the good working even if it's politically impossible within amd to open source it. It's a great idea!

Thanks,

Jan

Thanks for your feedback and we are glad you are having good experiences using Aparapi.

We are still discussing internally how we intend to make Aparapi available once we get beyond the Alpha+Beta cycle and have a release candidate. Even though we have not made a final decision, Open Source is one of a number of options that we are still actively discussing and it is clearly beneficial for us to be able to  include feedback (such as your post above)  in that discussion.

In the meantime we are actively working on Beta features and would very much appreciate suggestions for improving/extending Aparapi to make it more useful. If you have suggestions/comments we would like to hear about them.

Just thought I would respond to your suggestion (albeit 9 months later 🙂 ).

Please see my blog released today announcing the open sourcing of Aparapi.
